My philosophy
Conversations inspire change, be it at the individual or the organizational level. Because the best part of your organization is your members, let’s work together to unlock the potential of your team to address inequalities and eliminate barriers. Your employees will thrive when they are recognized, accepted, and celebrated.
core values
learning
Simply put, if there is no learning, there is no growth. And without growth, there is no change, at the individual or the organizational level. Through learning we gain new perspectives, greater insight into how we think, and a better understanding of how our actions and words affect others.
emotional intelligence
Racism, sexism, and other forms of discrimination provoke a wide range of emotions: anger, sadness, denial, hopelessness, etc. These emotions, and the fear of them, often prevent people from discussing these topics. The ability to identify these emotions and navigate through them is essential for transformative growth.
empathy
A greater understanding of how racism, ableism, and other forms of discrimination impact others creates compassion, and from this compassion comes a desire to see people treated fairly and equitably.
action
Well wishes and positive vibes don’t create lasting change. Action does. Too often, people rely on kindness or ‘not being racist’ as the end to discrimination. In reality, ending discrimination requires being proactive; being aware of and opposing it wherever it appears, be it in your neighborhood, workplace, school, or personal life.
consultation topics
Allyship
Many people confuse allyship with having friendships or relationships with persons of color. In reality, allyship requires examination of one’s own biases and subsequent change in behavior to eliminate barriers to true equality.
systemic racism
Many people think of racism as only an individual act. Unfortunately, racism also takes the form of large-scale acts of discrimination that disenfranchises Black, Indigenous, Hispanic, and Asian/Pacific Islander populations. Learn how systemic racism is perpetuated in many industries, from education to the criminal justice system.
bias awareness
People aren’t born biased, they learn them from an early age and continue learning them through adulthood. Often times, biases go unnoticed. Learn where we get our biases from and how they impact our worldview.
what is racism anyway?
For the last decade, racism has become a charged topic on social media, the news, and in politics. Despite its entrance into mainstream discussion, many Americans lack a concrete understanding of what racism is and its modern-day impact.
neurodiversity at work
Being autistic, Paul is all too familiar with the challenges that neurodivergent folks face in the workplace. Let’s discuss ways to make your organization more accessible by discussing the experiences of those with autism, ADHD, etc., common attitudes that people have, and how your organization can meet their needs.
…and much, much more
what people are saying
“Paul is one of the most insightful educators on antiracism and injustice that I have ever come across. The way he communicates with an empathy and compassion which invites you in, yet with a boldness and powerful perspective, a straightforward reality check, which compels you to sit up, pay attention, think, rethink, learn, unlearn, and start making changes. ”
-Samantha K.
“Paul is a teacher at heart. He encourages others to see things from a different perspective than their own. He is a person who is authentic and true to his values while respecting others who may not be on the same page. He is curious and humble, always willing to connect and simply have the conversation.”
-Kimberly K.
“Over the last decade I have been on a journey to gain better understanding of the racial issues in America, and what I need to change in my life to address those issues. Part of that journey has been crucial conversations with people like Paul Ladipo Paul reminded me that the journey I am on is a good one, but not an easy one.”
